Haryana government to reopen schools for higher classes

Schools in Haryana will reopen after December 14 for students of classes 10 and 12, the state government said on Thursday. However, students have to show their medical reports in order to attend the classes. Schools will function for only three hours from 10 am to 1 pm. Students of classes 9 and 11 will attend schools after December 21.

Schools in Haryana were closed after November 20 as more than 150 students were tested Covid-19 positive. These included: 78 students in Rewari, 30 in Jind, and 34 in Jhajjar. Most of these students were asymptomatic.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a nationwide lockdown on March 25. Hence, schools and colleges were also closed since then in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus. Later, the Ministry of Home Affairs had allowed schools to reopen for classes 9th to 12th in a “graded manner”.
