JEE Advanced 2020: Class 12 marks waived off as criteria for IIT admissions, says HRD Minister

The Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has recently announced that the candidates who are able to clear the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advance 2020 will be eligible for admission in nationwide IITs regardless of their scores in the Class 12 board exams this year.

This decision, which will allow candidates who clear the JEE Advanced to seek admissions into IITs regardless of their, was taken by the Joint Admissions Board (JAB) and was announced today by the HRD Minister via Twitter.
In his tweet, he said, “Due to the partial cancellation of class XII exams by several Boards, Joint Admission Board (JAB) has decided to relax the eligibility criterion for #JEE (Advanced) 2020 qualified candidates this time.”

This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, CBSE, as well as several state boards, decided to cancel the board exams for pending subjects due to the threat it posed to the health and safety of the students.

This year, the criteria for admissions into IITs if you have cleared the JEE Advance 2020 has been changed due to the special circumstances posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
Usually, the candidate has to score at least 75 percent marks in their Class 12 board exams to seek admissions into the IITs if they have cleared the JEE Advanced exams.

This year, the JEE Main and Advance examination, which is conducted for students who seek admission into engineering courses have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The exams are scheduled to be held in September 2020, along with the NEET 2020.
