UPSC Prelims 2020 new dates: Union Public Service Commission will be declaring the new exam dates for the Civil Services (IAS) prelims exam 2020, which was earlier scheduled to be conducted on May 31, will now be conducted on some other day. Amid coronavirus lockdown, UPSC aspirants are quite perplexed due to no official confirmation from the organisation about the announcement of new dates. Clearing the ambiguity in the air, Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS PMO and Dept of Personnel and Training told India Today, “New dates for UPSC exams to be announced post-May 3.”

Indeed, UPSC Prelims 2020 will certainly not be conducted on May 31 because the new dates will soon be announced.

UPSC released a press release on their official website to make the announcement. The press release states that a special meeting was held by the commission on April 15 to review the situation regarding covid-19 and the nationwide lockdown.

Deferment notices for various other exams like Combined Medical Services exam and Indian Statistical Services exam have already been posted on the official website by UPSC.

In this press release, UPSC also stated that every employee of the commission will donate a day’s salary to the PM CARES fund which was set up to battle the coronavirus pandemic.

A lot of entrance and recruitment exams have been postponed due to the lockdown extension in view of the coronavirus pandemic. The lockdown is set to be lifted on May 3, 2020, if the situation in our country gets better and the number of positive cases decreases.
